India's agricultural and processed food exports rose more than 8% to $14.01 billion in April-November, with rice exports up over 13% to $7.31 billion in the first eight months of FY25. The government removed most rice export restrictions in September by scrapping minimum export prices and export duties.
Exporters expect rice shipments to rise about 10% this fiscal year, with a target of 5 million tonnes.
Rising Indian rice exports, especially into Africa and Southeast Asia, add supply to global markets and push prices down for other exporters.
