The US Federal Reserve raised its benchmark overnight lending rate by a quarter point to 2.00-2.25% on September 26, its third hike this year. Vietnamese economists said the move was widely expected and would have limited effect on Vietnam's currency and debt markets.
A stronger dollar from Fed tightening can pressure emerging-market currencies and raise dollar-denominated financing costs for feed importers in those markets. The expected nature of the hike suggests the price impact on feed ingredients from Vietnam's side is minor.
