U.S. non-GMO seed and grain suppliers say they could supply Mexico with non-GMO corn, which is the country's stated goal under its GMO ban. Industry reaction to the ban has been largely negative, with about 16.5 million tonnes of mostly GMO corn exports to Mexico at stake.
The potential for U.S. non-GMO supply offers a partial offset to a GM corn ban, so the net effect on corn export demand and prices is uncertain.
