Chinese soymeal and soyoil futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange have been relatively calm since China began a 25% punitive tariff on U.S. soybeans on July 6. The Dalian soymeal contract fell about $9.68 a ton in one week to $461.90, and processors did not raise crush volumes.
Buyers had pre-stocked meal, so near-term supply is ample, but analysts expect reduced U.S. bean imports to tighten meal and oil supply in the next crop season, which is supportive for meal prices later.
