Oat harvest has started in east central Saskatchewan, with about 5% of the crop in one area combined. Early deliveries are light, though they meet specifications, and the procurement lead expects heavier oats from later-seeded fields that received timely rain.
Lighter early test weights point to somewhat smaller crop quality than in recent years, which could support oat prices if the trend persists. The effect is limited so far because harvest is early and later fields may be heavier.
