Malaysia's Ministry of Plantation and Commodities said it does not plan to regulate palm oil prices as a government-controlled product. The ministry attributed price moves to supply, export demand, soybean oil and Brent crude, and mentioned a planned East Malaysia palm oil futures contract.
No price controls means palm oil keeps tracking market fundamentals and crude and soyoil moves. The statement itself does not shift supply, so its price impact is minimal.
