A University of Nebraska-Lincoln study attributes about 25 percent of yield fluctuations in corn, soybeans and sorghum across the Great Plains from 1968 to 2013 to climate shifts. The effects varied by location and crop, reaching up to 52 percent of yield variance in some counties and almost none in others.
The findings are a research analysis of past yield variability and do not signal a new supply shock, so they have little near-term effect on feed grain prices.
