World Grain reports that the Ever Given remains lodged across the single-lane stretch of the Suez Canal, halting traffic including grain vessels. More than 200 vessels were backed up at either end, and the salvage company said reopening could take several weeks.
A multi-week closure would force grain shipments around Africa and raise freight costs for exporters sending supplies from the Black Sea and EU to Asia. Higher freight narrows the export competitiveness of origins that depend on the canal.
