FAO reports that El Niño's aftermath is causing lasting agricultural stress across Southeast Asia. Dry conditions have appeared in parts of the Philippines, Viet Nam, Cambodia and Lao PDR, threatening rice and wheat harvests and possibly delaying monsoon onset.
Drought risk to Southeast Asian rice output could tighten regional supply and lift rice prices, while the threat to wheat adds to import demand.
