CSIS analysis says mutual Russian and Ukrainian attacks on Black Sea and Sea of Azov shipping and export infrastructure have largely suspended traffic through Ukraine's ports, which previously handled about 90% of its agricultural exports. Russia has also suspended exports from its highest-capacity grain terminals, and the attacks threaten global fertilizer trade.
Removing a large share of world wheat and corn trade from the market tightens supplies and supports prices, while fertilizer disruption raises input costs for future crops.
