Global equities rebounded strongly on hopes for a diplomatic solution in Ukraine, reducing demand for defensive assets. Sterling rallied toward 1.3200 against the dollar before easing to about 1.3165, and the euro also gained against the pound and dollar as oil prices slid.
Improved risk appetite and a weaker dollar generally support dollar-priced commodities, while lower oil prices reduce input and freight costs. Analysts warned that the rebound could reverse if a settlement fails.
