Bangladesh has increased urea imports from Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar by about 15% this year, reaching over 1.1m tons. Gas shortages have forced domestic fertilizer plants to shut down or cut output.
Bangladesh needs about 2.6m tons of urea a year, so sustained Middle East buying adds to import demand and supports urea prices.
