Eurozone inflation rose to 2.9% in July from 2.8%, driven by an oil price surge linked to the Iran war, and core inflation accelerated to 2.5%. Markets are pricing more than two ECB rate hikes, with moves fully priced by October and April.
Higher energy costs and tighter ECB policy strengthen the euro against the dollar and raise input costs for European livestock and feed production. Oil-driven inflation also tends to lift energy-linked costs across the feed chain.
