University of Illinois agronomist Emerson Nafziger attributes record 2016 soybean yields to favorable weather, genetics and management. He notes Illinois soybean yields have risen about 4 bushels per acre per year over five years and expects gains to slow.
Record soybean output adds to ample supplies, a bearish factor for soybean and meal prices heading into 2017.
