The American Soybean Association reports that US biodiesel production reached a record 1.8 billion gallons in 2016, up from 1.4 billion in 2015. Imports rose to over 1 billion gallons and now capture more than a third of the market.
Record domestic biodiesel output supports soybean oil demand, but rising imports limit the gain for US crushers and soybean oil prices.
