The American Soybean Association asked the EPA to raise the 2019 biomass-based diesel volume to 2.5 billion gallons, 400 million above the proposal. The group also urged higher advanced biofuel volumes for 2018.
The comments argue idle domestic biodiesel capacity and feedstock are available.
Higher biodiesel mandates would absorb more soybean oil, supporting soybean oil prices and crush margins, but this is a lobbying request rather than a decision.
