The Federal Reserve's February 2017 Monetary Policy Report says payroll employment has risen about 200,000 per month since June and unemployment fell to 4.8 percent in January. It also reports 2016 second-half GDP growth of 2.75 percent annualized and inflation still below the 2 percent target.
Solid U.S. growth and inflation expectations support expectations of higher rates, which tend to strengthen the dollar and weigh on dollar-priced commodities.
