Kenya's Association of Kenya Feeds Manufacturers says about 10% of feed millers have closed due to a maize shortage, with maize prices up to Sh4,500 a bag from Sh3,500 in October. Manufacturers are running at half capacity and hoping for Ukrainian yellow maize imports.
Tight East African maize supply is raising local feed costs and reducing feed output, which supports regional corn demand for imports, though the effect on global prices is limited.
