The U.S. Department of Commerce opened antidumping and countervailing duty investigations into biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia after a petition from U.S. biodiesel producers. Preliminary dumping margins were estimated at about 27% for Argentina and 28% for Indonesia for 2014-2016.
Duties on subsidized imports would favor domestic biodiesel demand for soybean oil and could cut Indonesian biodiesel flows, which are palm-based. The outcome could shift vegetable oil trade flows.
