Spanish sunflower seed prices are reported at 325-365 EUR/mt, about 20% below the last five years. Spanish plantings fell 7% since 2015 and the EU imposed an import duty of EUR 5.16/t on corn, rye and sorghum.
Freezes and wet soils are also cited in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
Low sunflower prices and a reduced Spanish crop are offset by weather losses elsewhere, while the EU duty on feed grains shifts import costs for feed buyers.
