India doubled its crude palm oil import duty to 15% and raised refined palm olein duty to 25% in August 2017. Malaysia's plantation minister said the change challenges Malaysia's market share in India, its largest palm oil export destination.
Higher Indian import duties favour domestic refiners and may cut refined palm oil imports, which is bearish for Malaysian palm oil demand and prices.
