USDA projects US rice production, consumption, exports and stocks to decline in 2017-2018. Production fell 20% this year, with Arkansas harvested acreage dropping from about 1.5 million to 1.1 million acres, and total supplies are seen down about 15%.
A smaller US crop and lower supplies support domestic rice prices and reduce exportable supply, which can lift rice-based feed byproduct values.
