NBHC estimates India's kharif 2019 rice output at about 93.74 million tonnes, down 8% from the prior year, after excess monsoon rains and flooding. Maize is seen 11% lower and several pulses also fell sharply.
A smaller Indian rice and maize crop lowers domestic supply and could tighten prices and reduce exportable surplus for these grains.
