Deep-water Black Sea ports Novorossiysk, Tuapse and Taman handle 47.5% of Russian grain exports, according to an expert speaking at a Kyiv conference. Minor Azov and Black Sea ports account for 31.5%, mainly serving Turkey.
The expert also cited a shortage of rail cars and terminal capacity this season.
Rail car and terminal shortages limit how quickly Russian wheat can reach export positions, which can firm FOB Black Sea prices. The effect on global wheat values is limited but supportive.
