DTN analyst Joel Karlin compares 2017 state corn and soybean yields with 25-year trends. The national corn yield was a record 175.4 bpa and soybeans came in at 49.5 bpa.
Dakotas, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin fell below trend, while Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri and North Carolina ran 15% or more above it.
A record national corn yield signals large supplies and bearish pressure on corn futures. Soybean yield weakness in the north reinforces the supply picture.
