An AgriVisor analyst says soybean-based biodiesel is the main winner from the updated EPA renewable fuel standards, since about a quarter of US soybean oil output goes to biodiesel. Soybean oil futures rose after the announcement, while soybean meal fell on expectations of higher crush.
Advanced biofuel mandates shift demand toward soybean oil, supporting its price relative to meal. Increased crush for oil adds meal supply, which pressures meal prices.
