India's Commerce Ministry circulated a draft Agri Export Policy proposing to end export restrictions such as minimum export prices and export duties on non-essential commodities. Processed and organic products would be exempted from such curbs even if the underlying primary product is restricted.
A stable, less restrictive Indian export regime would make Indian rice, wheat, oilseeds and pulses more predictable for global buyers, possibly easing upward price spikes from sudden export bans.
