USDA's Grain Transportation Report for the week ending March 15 showed total corn, wheat and soybean export inspections of 2.37 million tonnes, down 15% week on week, with soybean inspections falling 47% to their lowest since July 2017. After weeks of flooding, Mississippi and Ohio river levels were receding, easing barge navigation, and barge spot rates declined.
Weaker soybean export inspections point to softer near-term export demand, while easing river conditions reduce barge freight pressure.
