The USDA Grain Transportation Report shows average secondary railcar bids reached $600 above tariff for the week ending April 26, and weekly grain carloads were 30 percent above the three-year average. Export inspections of soybeans rose 33 percent while wheat inspections fell 42 percent.
Strong rail demand and service constraints lift freight premiums, which raises delivered costs for export-bound grain and supports Pacific Northwest basis.
