Weekly protein report: DMC payouts offer relief amid tightening margins

June live cattle rose $1.075 to $244.35/cwt, a contract high, and May feeder cattle gained to $368.00. India is cutting vegetable oil imports after the Iran war drove up prices and fuel shortages, with domestic edible oil prices up as much as 17% in a month.

Import costs rose about 25%, and DMC payments of $1.04/cwt were triggered for some participants.
