Trucking press reports that the EPA is reviewing economic impacts of low-sulfur fuel rules for ships within 200 miles of the U.S. coast, and that IMO rules effective January 2020 will cut bunker fuel sulfur. Industry analysts expect diesel prices to spike in 2019 and 2020 as shipping shifts to cleaner fuels.
Expected demand shift from bunker fuel to diesel and LNG could tighten distillate supply and lift diesel prices, raising feed freight costs.
