UK pork exporters expect strong Chinese demand to continue into 2020 as African swine fever kills large numbers of pigs in China. UK pork shipments to China in the first eight months of 2019 were nearly double 2018 levels, and China is now the UK's largest pig meat customer.
China has also been drawing down frozen pork stocks and fast-tracking import deals.
Chinese pork shortages are pulling in imports from many countries, which supports global pork prices and export demand.
