Biodiesel industry representatives testified at the EPA hearing on proposed 2019 RFS volumes and 2020 biomass-based diesel levels. They asked EPA to raise the 2020 figure to at least 2.8 billion gallons and to account for waived gallons.
The industry says small refinery exemptions cut biodiesel demand by more than 300 million gallons.
Calls for higher mandates support soybean oil demand, but waivers that reduce required volumes limit that benefit. Final EPA numbers will determine the price impact.
