Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia (Poram) called on Malaysia to review its crude palm oil export duty structure, which fluctuates monthly between 4.5% and 8.5%. Poram says a structural price gap of US$20-30 per tonne versus Indonesia is costing Malaysian refiners market share.
A higher effective duty relative to Indonesia makes Malaysian refined palm products less competitive, which could shift export volumes and weigh on Malaysian palm prices relative to Indonesian supply.
