US cattle placements into feedlots with at least 1,000 head capacity fell year over year in October, the second straight monthly decline. Year-to-date placements through October were slightly below 2017 levels, ending a long run of gains.
Slowing feedlot placements and expected smaller calf crops point to tighter cattle supplies ahead, supporting cattle prices and feedlot demand for feed over time.
