At INTL FCStone's outlook conference, analyst Adam Stout said record beef, pork and poultry production is forecast for 2019, with beef expected to hold its value best. Cattle inventory growth is slowing and 2019 or 2020 may be the last growth year, while weather has trimmed carcass weights by about 1% of beef production.
Slowing herd growth and weather-cut weights support cattle prices, while record protein output in total may limit gains in other meats. Beef strength tends to support demand for feed-based production.
