CBC reports Canadian canola shipments to China, worth $2.7 billion last year, have been halted at Chinese ports over alleged pests, with ships stuck offshore and import licences suspended. Diplomats link the ban to the diplomatic dispute over the arrest of a Huawei executive.
Stranded cargoes and suspended licences cut a major export outlet for canola seed, bearish for Canadian canola and supportive of competing oilseed meals.
