President Trump threatened on March 29 to close the US border with Mexico unless immigration demands were met, and later said the closure could cover all trade. On April 4 he softened the threat and gave Mexico and Congress more time.
A full border closure would disrupt cattle and beef trade with Mexico, adding uncertainty to feeder cattle supply and cross-border flows. The threat has been softened, so the near-term price impact is limited.
