President Trump threatened tariffs on all Mexican imports, due to take effect the following Monday. Nearly equal volumes of beef, roughly 500 million pounds a year, cross the US-Mexico border in each direction, and border livestock trade is highly integrated.
Tariffs on Mexican imports would disrupt the two-way cattle and beef flows, pressuring US feeder and live cattle prices and raising costs for Mexican buyers of US product.
