AgroLatam reports that Chicago cattle futures fell sharply on August 24 after USDA began a phased reopening to Mexican cattle imports. USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins said two New Mexico ports should reopen within 60 days, while Texas ports remain closed.
The reopening adds feeder supply, pushing feeder and live cattle futures lower, while phased port timing limits the size of the near-term supply increase.
