The US Treasury designated China a currency manipulator for the first time in decades, after the yuan weakened past 7 per dollar. Beijing had said it would stop buying US agricultural products in response.
The manipulator label escalates the trade dispute and raises the risk of further Chinese retaliation against US farm exports, which is bearish for US soybean and grain prices.
