AccuWeather reports that Midwest corn and soybean crops are running one to two weeks behind schedule. Experts warn that a cold September or an early frost could damage both crops, with 1974 cited as a comparable frost year.
Late maturity raises the risk of frost loss, which would tighten corn and soybean supplies and support prices.
