The ECB cut its deposit rate by 10 basis points to minus 0.5% and said rates would stay at or below current levels until inflation converges toward 2%. It also announced €20 billion in monthly bond purchases starting in November for as long as necessary.
Deeper negative rates and renewed asset buying weaken the euro and tend to lift dollar-based commodity prices in relative terms.
