The U.S. Grains Council launched its first commercial mission to East Africa to promote US sorghum and DDGS. The region has an annual corn deficit of about 2 million tonnes, worsened by drought, and feed producers are paying up to $375 per tonne for corn.
High regional feed prices and corn deficits create demand opportunities for US sorghum and DDGS as lower-cost substitutes. Sustained export sales could support those prices.
