UK feed suppliers advise livestock farmers to fix feed costs by contract because ingredient prices have risen after a year of lows. Wheat futures climbed £10-13/t on rain delaying drilling and expectations of a smaller crop, and the UK maize harvest has been delayed by rain.
Rising UK wheat and maize prices and a possible tighter supply next year lift the cost of feed for UK livestock producers.
