EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski said on 16 December that the EU should gradually reduce soy imports from third countries, though not overnight. He pointed to supporting homegrown protein crop and feed production under the new CAP as the route.
A sustained push to cut EU soybean and soymeal imports would reduce demand from Americas exporters over the long run, a bearish signal for soybeans and soybean meal, though the timeline is slow.
