A law firm briefing explains the EU Deforestation Regulation adopted by Parliament on 19 April, which prohibits placing listed agricultural and livestock products from deforested areas on the EU market. It notes that Parliament added rubber, charcoal, printed paper and several palm oil products, and sought to extend scope to maize, pork and poultry.
If maize, pork and poultry are added, the scope of EU import compliance would widen, adding cost and uncertainty for exporters of these feed-related commodities.
