Indian rice exports are forecast to fall 18-20% in the current fiscal year due to weak West Asian demand, Iran sanctions and geopolitical tensions. Higher minimum support prices are also pushing farmers toward the domestic market.
Lower Indian export availability tightens competition for buyers in other markets, but the large Indian stocks limit upside. The main effect is on rice export prices, which are already under pressure.
