India's rice exports rose 19.4% in 2025 to 21.55 million tonnes, the second-highest on record, after New Delhi lifted all remaining export curbs. Non-basmati shipments jumped 25% to 15.15 million tonnes, and basmati exports reached a record 6.4 million tonnes.
Renewed Indian supply pushed Asian rice prices to near-decade lows and displaced rivals from Thailand and Vietnam. Continued heavy Indian exports should keep global rice prices under pressure.
