China published a list of 696 American products, including soybeans, pork, beef, corn, wheat, crude oil and LNG, eligible for retaliatory duty relief. Companies can apply for waivers from March 2, and exemptions are valid for one year up to approved volumes.
Analysts say the coronavirus outbreak has dashed Chinese demand, so a large surge in buying is unlikely.
The waivers lower tariff costs for US grains, oilseeds and energy, but the coronavirus demand drop limits the near-term price boost. Purchases above approved volumes remain subject to tariffs.
